THE 2-FOOT EXTENSION: MODERN EXPRESSION OF JAPANESE MINIMALISM
The signature 2-foot roof and wall extensions reinterpret traditional Japanese design principles through modern minimalist architecture. Beyond aesthetics, they embody understated refinement and spatial harmony.
The Modern “Deep Eaves”
As sunlight moves, the 2-foot roof extension choreographs an ever-changing play of light and shadow, turning the exterior into a living canvas. Its extended form creates a subtle sense of shelter, bringing comfort and calm to the space.
The Modern “Engawa” and “Ma”
The 2-foot wall extension mirrors the “beauty of uselessness” (Ma), framing negative space into a three-dimensional composition that allows the building to breathe. Together with the roof extension, it creates an Engawa-inspired experience, where visitors remain connected to the outdoors while feeling sheltered.
